"JULY 3/2010 UPDATE"

- Yesterday we placed our first temporary bridge across to the club house. This will allow access to the club house as well as for maintenance equipment.
- The "Classic" is officially cancelled. Too many players could not make an alternate date.
- We will try to get the driving range open as soon as possible. Right now there it is too dangerous with heavy equipment etc.to let people down here.
- We are hoping to be operational in a couple of weeks, and are looking at an opening date of around July 15/2010.
WATCH FOR OUR RE-OPENING DATE ON THIS SITE!
Thank you all for your patience and understanding with all that has happened.
The Cottonwood Team.
FLOOD DAMAGE NOTICE- The loss of six of our bridges, including the main bridge, #3 bridge, #15 bridge, #16 bridge, #8 bridge and the maintenance bridge. We are exhausting
all options and are working hard on getting these bridges replaced. -Damage to the course is limited to several areas -Mudslide near fifth tee-box
-Damage to turf by all bridges that were damaged -Sand traps on various holes -Sixteen tee-box by the ladies tees has been damaged.
-We also have been working very hard to remove the thick layers of silt, mud and other debris off of several holes. Holes 16, 17 and 18 are the
worst hit with debris and silt. Thus far we have cleaned off hole seventeen and most of hole eighteen. Plans are to have all holes with
layers of silt cleaned off in the next couple days.
-The campground will also be closed for the immediate future. The bathroom and facility building for the RV park must be sanitized. There is
currently no power for the RV sites and the creek is still much too high near the campground.
-We have also been forced to have our basement and pit bar (near the fireplace, adjacent to the main bridge) cleaned out and sterilized. This
includes the disposal of any contaminated inventory or valuables.
-Currently the clubhouse has no phone connections or any natural gas supply. This will be high on our list of concerns over the next week.
Members and customers may contact the golf course via email or through Carole Woolfrey-Harris's personal cell phone (403-878-3755).
-The driving range will be closed to the public for the first part of the cleanup. We hope to have this open possibly before the course opens to
allow for members to continue their golf.
The main focus of the ownership group, management, maintenance and other staff is getting the course back into operation as quickly as possible. We
would like to thank all of the members and local community for their generous support throughout this past week. Cottonwood appreciates the
patience and understanding that the citizen's of Medicine Hat have shown thus far.
For our loyal members we hope to have you back to playing as soon as possible, however it can not be stressed enough that we are unsure how
long this recovery period will take and we cannot predict what the next couple of weeks will hold. We have taken measures to insure that
Cottonwood Coulee members are not completely denied access to golf. Three local courses have generously stepped up to provide reciprocal golfing
rates for individuals with proof of a 2010 Cottonwood membership.
Redcliff - $25
Medicine Hat - $35
Connaught - $30
Show your bag tag or any other proof of membership to these courses to receive the special rate.
Thanks for your continued patience, support and loyalty to Cottonwood Coulee. Hope to see you soon again out on the links!
Thanks,
The Cottonwood Coulee Team
